Bored? Feel like you have nothing to do? Worry no more! The Argus September guide has a complete list of Thunder Bay’s best events this month. From art, film, music, and fun nights out, see what the city has to offer.  

Arts:

Drag paint night will be held at The Outpost on Friday Sept 12th from 5-7 PM. Get your tickets before they’re gone! 

Vox Popular Film Festival is celebrating its 21st annual event at Definitely Superior Art Gallery from September 18-20th. With local and out of town filmmakers, live music performances, and much more, Vox Pop is Thunder Bay’s cornerstone of interdisciplinary arts showcasing. Tickets can be purchased here 

Along with the film festival, Definitely Superior Art Gallery will also hold a gallery opening on Sept 12th at 7 PM. The annual juried exhibition will run until November 22nd and is free to attend for all ages. 

Karaoke:

For your inner rockstar, The Red Lion Smokehouse is throwing a live band karaoke event on September 27th. The night will feature a live band that lays down the backtrack to your favourite songs. This event is free entry, so have a pint, grab some grub, and prepare to sing your heart out. 

Tuesday nights at the Foundry and Thursday nights at Nortenos Cantina (19+) see weekly karaoke. With a full stage and thousands of tunes to choose from, you’re guaranteed to have a fun-filled evening. 

For your inner performer, Lakehead Beer Co holds Open Mic night every Thursday at 7:30. Bring your own instruments! 

Trivia: 

On Sept 17th, Lakehead University’s Nursing Association will host a trivia event at the Outpost from 4-7 PM. Come out and support your fellow students!

 

Check out The Red Lion Smokehouse on Sept 24th for another trivia night. The event is free entry and all ages are welcome.

Music:

Enjoy a live performance by Thunder Bay’s Honest Heart Collective on Sept 13th at Lakehead Beer Co. This local band is a staple in the rock scene in the community. If you’re a fan of heavy instrumentals, this show is a must see.

 

Miscellaneous:

Celebrate all things nerdy at Thundercon on Sept 20th and 21st. Dress up as your favourite superhero for a weekend of cosplay, gaming, and fun. For more info click here 

Every Saturday morning from 8am-1PM and Wednesdays from 3:30-6:30PM, the CLE Dove building holds a farmers market. The two story market boasts over 50 vendors that sell local food, produce, crafts, and more. 

Swing by Sleeping Giant Brewery on Sept 20th anytime between 12-10pm for their first ever Sausagefest. Compete in sausage eating, beer drinking, or just enjoy the atmosphere. This event is free entry and welcomes all ages.
