The Cat’s out of the Bag (Again)
It has been 6 years since Jeffrey Epstein faced child sex trafficking charges. These charges never had the chance to hold Epstein accountable, as he died in his cell only a month after he was charged. I do say “die”, not suicide, due to the preternatural events surrounding his death.
Many implications come with the full release of the Epstein files. The level of Republican pushback, especially by Donald Trump, doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. A major aspect of his second-term campaign was his promise to release the files. He would quickly renege on this only days after being sworn in. This would become the turning point for many of the people who voted him in; MAGA wanted those files.
November 12 denoted a shift in the tide of prosecution after the release of several email chains between Jeffrey Epstein and those linked to his sex trafficking ring. Trump’s name was mentioned multiple times, implying he knew about Ghislaine and Epstein’s trafficking.
A comprehensive look into Epstein’s texting history revealed that he had more shot-calling power than was previously known. Messages between him and Democratic delegate Stacey Plaskett during a 2019 House Oversight Committee hearing surfaced recently. He complimented Plaskett on her outfit and asked whether she was chewing or not, each text’s timing coinciding with the broadcast that day. He seemed to help Plaskett know which questions to ask, from the comfort of his home.
In correspondence with an anonymous client, Epstein would describe his distaste for interacting with Trump, “I have met some very bad people [...] none as bad as Trump. Not one decent cell in his body.” Epstein goes on saying, “You know, I know how dirty Donald is.”
Now, there is hope for the awaited truth on the horizon.
Rep. Adelita Grijalva was sworn in on November 12th, 2025, and the same day, she would make the decisive 218th vote that would push the full release of the Epstein files. Trump would deal with this by calling Grijalva herself to request that she abstain from voting. Not necessarily the efforts of an innocent man.
All expectations would be smashed days later, once again. As of November 17th, Trump reversed his opposition and backed the release of the files.
Now the question isn’t whether or not the files are released. The question is what’s really in them and what the public can actually see.
