Coach Scherban’s warning last week about not taking a seemingly weaker opponent lightly feel on deaf ears this past weekend. The Wolves split their weekend series with playoff hungry UOIT, falling to 2-2 this season against the 8th place Ridgebacks. In Friday night’s 6-5 loss, Wolves forward Matt Caria extended his scoring streak to his first nine games with the team only to have it broken on Saturday. Friday night’s loss also ended LU’s 6-game winning streak. Despite the hiccup, a strong resurgence was in the cards for the Wolves in Saturday night’s rematch; they pounded the ’Backs 8-2 to rebound nicely. “Senior Night” was kind to graduating forward Scott Dobben as he was not only presented with a commemorative jersey and watch, but also chipped in two goals and an assist. LU player, Kyle Moir, backstopped the Wolves in both games, earning a win and a loss.

Big games from Lindsay Druery (Friday) and Tasia McKenna (Saturday) helped the Wolves dispatch the visiting Waterloos Warriors this past weekend, earning them a much needed sweep and a boost in the standings. Druery had a dominant double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds. This was arguably Druery’s best game of the season in the Wolves 75-62 victory over the Warriors Friday night. Emily Ross added 13 and McKenna kicked in 11 of her own.
McKenna followed up on Saturday with a team leading 19 points, helping the Wolves take the final game of the series, a nail-biting 57-54 win. Although she was the only LU player to reach double figures in scoring on the night, Druery once again stepped up on the board with 10 rebounds and nine points, just missing out on another double-double. Overall, the Wolves played extremely well this weekend and have better positioned themselves in the standings.
