Washrooms worth holding it for

You’ve seen them– washrooms so bad that you would hold it another 15 minutes just to get to a cleaner one. Even if you can manage to use them, you cannot escape the putrid smells that linger. We asked Lakehead students to identify what they felt were Lakehead’s worst washrooms. These were the worst of the worst.

Both women’s and men’s beside UC1017

Students singled out these washrooms as by far the worst. Being in the centre of campus, these two washrooms are used and abused. Students spoke of dirty toilets, putrid smells, and a permanent snowfall of litter on the ground.

Men’s washroom by the Main Cafeteria

Imagine a world where toilet paper is a sparse commodity, and men will kill to attain it; a world where hands remain unwashed, because there’s the slight possibility that there might be some hand sanitizer available just on the other side of the door; a world in need of a champion, or at very least, urinals that drain occasionally. My friends, you need not imagine: this world exists not twenty feet from where you eat.

Private washrooms on first floor ATAC

Students complained about a lovely level of litter on the floor, as well as a serious lack of flushing. The small and private natures of the washrooms appear to lend itself to exceptional disarray.

Women’s in the Bora Laskin Building

Two specific washrooms were identified: the main floor beside lifelong learning, and the upstairs washroom. The particular aroma was found to be especially offensive, as well as overflowing garbage.

Students have their say:

“The men’s room beside UC1017, because the door is always propped open. You expect me to poop in there? Ridiculous!”

“The ones beside UC1017… The floors are ALWAYS disgusting and it stinks beyond belief.”

ATAC 2nd floor…the automatic flushing system seems to have just up and quit lately.”

“The men’s washroom in residence—in the hallway by Dan’s Diner. Boy, that porcelain has seen better days.”

“Bora Laskin upstairs bathroom. The garbage is always full the window is open to try and get rid of some of the stench so it’s freezing, and yet it still smells so bad you can’t take a breath without wanting to vomit… Check it out if you don’t believe me.”
